Also commonly seen: wildflowers, Red squirrel, Red and Roe deer, Feral goats, frogs and toads, butterflies (S) and dragonflies (S).

Description: There is plenty of wildlife to be seen when just taking a gentle walk around the village. The St Fillans area has a good variety of habitats including mountains, moorland, river and loch, Oak and conifer woodlands, and ponds. Each habitat has its own variety of wildlife, and the rich mixture of habitats in the area means that there are many different species to be found throughout the year.

Most of the walking is on flat, well-maintained roads and paths, and walks can be adapted for the more adventurous.

  • Collection from accommodation (within a 30-mile radius of St Fillans) around 8am
  • Two-hour walk around the south side of the village, river and loch
  • Mid-morning stop for coffee or tea to sit in or take-away (optional)
  • Two-hour walk around the north side of the village, river and loch
  • Drop off back at accommodation/agreed location at lunchtime
