Red Kite Roost Spectacle

Length: 2 hours

Best time of year: Winter

Best time of day: Two hours before sunset

Possible species: Red kites! Buzzard, Raven, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, Goshawk, Fieldfare, Redwing and woodland passerines.

Description: following the Central Red Kite Reintroduction in the 1990s, the number of Red kites has steadily grown in the Strathearn area. During the Winter they have communal roosts and one of the largest in Scotland is near Comrie and St Fillans. We will watch as the kites come from far and wide to gather in the Winter sky before they decide on which woodland they will spend the night in. This really is a spectacle of nature not to be missed!

There is only a short walk required, on a flat, tarmac track.
