Mountain Hare and Ptarmigan Munro Ascent

Length: Full day

Best time of year: Spring, Summer and Autumn

Best time of day: Early morning

Possible species*: Mountain hare, Ptarmigan, Snow bunting, Buzzard, Hen harrier, Merlin, Kestrel, Ring ouzel (S), Red deer.

Description: if you want to get away from it all then this is for you! Will we ascend one of our local Munros, which gives the opportunity of seeing two mountain specialists, the Mountain hare and the Ptarmigan.

For your safety, on this tour you get the benefit of an ecologist as a guide and also a qualified mountain leader; therefore, this tour is more economical for a group. Both guides will be knowledgeable about the wildlife, local history and the terrain, so will keep you entertained and motivated along the way. This will not be a yomp, as we will need to sit still and look around for the best chance of catching sight of the wildlife. Breaks will be regular, and we will only ascend to the summit if the whole group are happy to do so – if we do, there will be a wee dram as a reward as well as fantastic views (weather permitting).

Due to the uncertainty of the Scottish weather these tours will only happen if our mountain leader deems it safe on the day. Sturdy walking boots are required and sensible clothing (layers) is essential. We will provide snacks and a packed lunch, but please bring your own water bottle.
