Possible species*: Osprey (S), Common sandpiper (S), Red kite, Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Spotted flycatcher (S), Coal tit, Yellowhammer, Willow warbler (S), Chiffchaff (S), Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Blackcap (S), Garden warbler (S), Dipper, Grey wagtail, Sand martin (S), Swift (S), Swallow (S), House martin (S), Grey heron, common garden birds, Redwing (W), Fieldfare (W), Waxwing (W). Also commonly seen: wildflowers, Red squirrel, frogs and toads, butterflies (S) and dragonflies (S).

Description: It’s amazing just how much nature can be observed when walking amongst the back streets and popular riverside and woodland paths within Comrie village. The route taken will depend on the time of year and time of day. During Summer the sky is full of screaming Swifts along with Swallows and House martins and the path-side vegetation is brimming with wildflowers and pollinating insects.

itinerary Itinerary
  • Collection from accommodation (within a 30-mile radius of St Fillans) at a time to suit
  • Two-hour walk around the village taking in the streets, the rivers and meadows
  • Mid-point break for a drink and/or snack to sit in or take-away (optional)
  • A further two-hour walk uphill (not too steep) to get a fantastic view of the village, followed by a walk through woodland with the possibility of seeing Red squirrel.
  • Drop off back at accommodation/agreed location
